Combine play dough with natural materials for this fun autumn sensory play idea: making animals with acorns, conkers and play dough.
Autumn playdough ideas using acorns and conkers
Are your kids bonkers for conkers at the moment? We have to leave for school five minutes early so we can factor in enough time for horse chestnut gathering on the way there. And the walk home talks just that bit longer too because there are just so many interesting things to pick up from the floor at this time of the year.
Not that I’m complaining – it’s wonderful that the kids enjoy the natural treasures a this time of year and pounce on them as new toys to play with.
I had planned on sharing something else with you today be we are all about the conkers at the moment, so I’m following the kids’ lead and sharing their idea for combining our cinnamon-scented autumn playdough with the seeds of the season, and I present to you their Bonkers Conkers Creations.
This is a lovely activity for an autumn day – a nature walk, a batch of no cook playdough mixing and then a creative afternoon making creatures.
This is a great! We have tons and tons of acorns
How fun and simple! Love it.
I know a certain 4 yo who would love to do this with acorns and other autumn bits. Thanks for the idea!
How fun, at our old property we had load of acorns to play with, what fun activities!
I haven’t started our autumn walks yet. We usually leave the nuts on the ground though for the squirrels. But do you have any leaf activities?
Hi Stephanie – we certainly do! We have leaf collages, tree gargoyles, playdough leaf prints…. If you pop the word ‘autumn’ in the search box over on the right you can have a browse through the archive and see what you like the look of.
Those are some fantastic creations- I love “going with the flow” with my kids to see what they come up with! Thank you for linking up to The Sunday Showcase!
