Crafting with children can be a wonderful time to sit with them and have a conversation or explore an idea. The children who made these spring lamb pictures are aged between one and three and a half. And each in their own way created their answer to the same question: what does a lamb look like?

Kids Art Explorers : yarn!
Kids Art Explorers Project Two: yarn
This year we are undertaking lots of different art experiments. We’re exploring materials, techniques and styles and seeing where our creativity takes us. We’re celebrating the process of art: trying new things, having a go, being daring, making mistakes. We’re interested in how things turn out but much more focused on the fun we have along the way.
A huge thank you to all of you who joined in our Kids Art Explorers launch and got creative with pipe cleaners. You can find all the kids art ideas in our on-line Pinterest gallery. My girls have loved taking a tour around your projects and we were impressed with how many different ways you interpreted the pipe cleaner challenge: horizontal sculptures, play dough creations, colour studies, special messages. It made me so happy to see how many of your children took the lead and knew exactly what they wanted to create with the pipe cleaners, and how many of you went with it and facilitated your kid’s own creativity.

Recycled garden tile art
Our school gardening club has been focusing on art projects in January and February while we wait for some warmer weather to begin our planting. Our gardening club mission, as well as growing all sorts of fruit and veg, is to make the space as eco friendly as possible and a feast for all the senses.
This garden tile project used lots of recycled and found materials and created art which is a treat for the eyes and also the hands. It introduced the children (and us) to a new technique and a new material, and created a permanent outside art gallery for us to enjoy all year round. Here’s how we made our garden tile art.
