Printable Nativity writing prompts
As part of NurtureStore’s Nativity Unit, your children can create their own Nativity book, using our free printable. See below for details of how to print the My Nativity Story pages from the Literacy section of NurtureStore’s Free Printables Library.
The printable includes a title page and five pages which your children can complete as they work through the five days of this unit. Each page has a space for an illustration and a space to write a sentence, to tell the Nativity story, stage by stage.
This book supports children to:
:: understand the nativity story
:: practice writing and drawing
:: tell the story in their own words
:: sequence a story correctly, with beginning, middle and end
Once you have completed each page you can glue them together along the side, folding along the dotted line to turn the pages.
How to use the Nativity Story Book
Print a copy of the free Nativity book for each of your children, from the Literacy section of NurtureStore’s Free Printables Library. (See below for details)
Read our child-friendly retelling of the Nativity story. You can share the story in one complete reading, or read it in five parts – over the course of a week perhaps, or on the five Sundays around the Christmas festival.
Invite your children to retell the story in their own words and pictures, on the pages of the printable My Nativity Story book.
You can use our printable Nativity vocabulary list (also in the Free Printables Library) to help your children with their writing.
Once all parts of the book are complete, use the border on the left-hand side of the pages to fasten the book together, using glue, staples or stitches.
Your children can then have the book as a keepsake or use it to read their version of the nativity story to friends and family.
