Ramadan lantern craft with template
Here’s an ever-so-pretty Ramadan lantern craft.
This lantern craft is easy to create, making it perfect for young children or a larger group.
You can get a printable lantern template from our ready-made Ramadan unit.
Materials needed
:: lantern template (you can print one from our ready-made Ramadan unit – see below for more details)
:: scissors and/or craft knife
:: sticky-backed plastic / contact paper
:: coloured cellophane or tissue paper
Need an even simpler version? You can just use pens, pencils or paints to colour in your lantern template.

How to make the Ramadan lantern craft
Cut out the lantern template using scissors and/or a craft knife.
You will also need to cut out the three inner panels of the lantern.

Place the lantern face-down onto a piece of sticky-backed plastic / contact paper.
(Tip: use sticky tape to fasten the sticky-backed plastic / contact paper to your table to hold it still while you put the lantern in place.)

Use pieces of cellophane or tissue paper to fill the three panels of the lantern.

Keep going until all the windows of the lantern are filled.
Then place a second sheet of sticky-backed plastic / contact paper over the lantern to sandwich-in all the pieces of cellophane/tissue paper.

Trim around the outside of the lantern to cut off any excess sticky-backed plastic / contact paper.

Hang up your lantern in the window so the cellophane / tissue paper is lit up by the sunshine.
You might like to make several and hang them as a garland to make a string of lanterns.
You might like to repeat the process with a second copy of the printable to make a front and a back for each star and moon, so that your design is visible on both sides, as the mobile turns.
