Welcome to day two of our week long series dedicated to the lovely, playful and sometimes willful stage of childhood that is toddlerhood. Yesterday we looked at sensory play and today we’re got some of our favourite ideas for arts and crafts. They’re ideas which are just right for two- and three-year olds (but also great for bigger kids too!)
Art eggs: painted Easter eggs
These painted Easter eggs are a great kids’ art idea for spring. Each as unique as the artist who made them, they look even better in a colourful mix and match group. Here’s how to make them:

52 kids painting ideas: a year’s worth of creativity
This month the Kids Art Explorers have been enjoying a No Paint Brushes Allowed project. Creativity is encouraged when you set aside your everyday materials and try something different.

Here’s a whole year’s worth of ideas for the fun you could have if you tried painting with something other than a paint brush. [Read more…]
Kids painting: no paintbrushes allowed! paint station
This month’s Kids Art Explorers project is all about trying out painting – but with no paint brushes allowed. This week we set up a No Pain Brush Paint Station and went on a hunt to see what we could find around the house that might be good to paint with. The children found some great stuff. They discovered lots of different shapes and textures and were excited to be painting with things they considered rather daring!

Painting with drinking straws
The Kids Art Explorers project this month is enjoying a No Paint Brushes Allowed challenge. We’re trying out lots of different ways to use paint and inviting you to join in. The NurtureStore children have been hunting through our art and craft cupboard to find different materials they think will be great to paint with. We also have lots of other blogs joining in the project and you can see some of the amazing art they’ve been creating below. But first, here’s what we created when we tried painting with drinking straws.
