Here’s a simple Halloween craft – how to make apple print pumpkins.
Apple print pumpkin craft
QUICK RESOURCE >> Download our ready-made Apples Unit here
It’s the season for apple printing: around the blog world this week I’ve seen some lovely apple trees and apple wreaths.
We decided to get started our our Halloween decorations and turn our apple prints into pumpkins. The apple halves can be a little tricky to grasp hold of so we used a fork as a handle.
We cut out our pumpkin eyes and faces from black sugar paper and stuck them on while the paint was wet – no glue needed.
Once they are dry you can cut out your pumpkins, glue on a lollypop stick and you have some cute Halloween bookmarks.
We’re also going to use the rest of ours to update our number line.

:: take an apple taste test, making notes and drawing what you observe
:: compare apples and pumpkins using a Venn diagram method
:: make no-bake apple cookies, following a simple ‘recipe’ and using practical skills to make their own tasty snack
:: explore printmaking techniques and create apple print bunting to decorate your class/home

The Play Academy’s thematic units come with practical printables that make the lessons more engaging for your children and easier for you to teach.
No need to go searching for printables to accompany your lessons, they’re all included when you download your chosen unit.

So fun. The fork is a great idea. Imagine that will make it much easier for the little hands.
Cathy @ NurtureStore says
Hi Abbie, the fork works perfectly and makes this much easier on littile hands – so they can enjoy the activity and not get frustrated with a slippery apple.
