Here’s a super cute and easy gingerbread house craft that introduces children to using glue to create a collage.
Simple gingerbread house collage craft with printable
This is a lovely activity for younger children and those who love to use glue. There is a lot of value in the simple process of creating a picture.
Materials needed:
:: gingerbread house card from the play dough mats in the Gingerbread Man Unit
:: glue sticks or pots with spreaders
:: decorations such as stickers, card shapes, sequins, pompoms, buttons and foil shapes
Set out the gingerbread house cards with glue and decorations, and invite your children to customise their own unique house.
Children can make choices about which items to use as decorations and where to place each element to create their own design.
They’re using fine motor skills as they pick up and place the small stickers, buttons, and other items.
Glue, whether in sticks or runny glue with spreaders, is an art material young children delight in using, and this gives them practice in using it effectively and not too liberally!
You might introduce scissor skills, inviting children to cut out their own shapes from card, or to chop up drinking straws to use as decorations.
