Happy New Year everyone!
I thought I’d post a little update on the goings-on at NurtureStore, to say hi and point you in the direction of some resources that might be useful to you this month.
Big news for us personally is that Big Sis turns thirteen this month! She’s the one who is responsible for most of the ‘making’ crafts, models and sculptures on the site. Any time you see a dragon on my Instagram feed (like this or this or this), that’ll be her. We’re celebrating with a room makeover – and realising we only seem to redecorate for big life events! The last time she had her room updated was when she was just about to become a big sister and we moved house. Needless to say she is delighted to be getting a grown-up room.
January also saw the launch of my first online course. I’d thrilled to welcome a group of you to Art Spark and can’t wait to get started next week. If you’d like to see some of the projects coming out of the workshop, keep an eye on #nurturestoreartspark on Instagram. You can see details of the course and linked ebooks here. It’s running again in April if you missed this one – and watch out for more workshops and meet-ups on offer through the year. I want us to work on some awesome projects with our kids, online and in real life.
If you follow me on Facebook (we just reached 350,000 people gathered there – wow!) or receive my weekly Play Planner email, you might notice a slight change to the format. I often find Facebook especially to be rather overwhelming – a bit noisy, with ideas being posted 24 hours a day. There’d never be time to do all those ideas whizzing passed! I want to keep NurtureStore focused on being useful, which for me means providing you with a great selection of seasonal and play-based ideas, but just enough to inspire and not too many that you’re overloaded. So you’re likely to see not quite as many ideas being shared but, I hope, ones that you will really want to try. I’m also working on some improvements for the website index to help you find what you’re looking for even more easily.
Does that sound good? I tend to work seasonally, so I’ll always look to provide you with ideas to fit the months and festivals, but if there’s ever anything in particular you’re looking for let me know in a comment or by email (cathy@nurturestore.co.uk) and I will do my best to find it for you.
Speaking of which, ideas that you might be looking for this month are:
the new January / Winter activities index that I put together this week
my archive of Valentine crafts and activities
ideas for celebrating and learning about Chinese New Year
I hope you have a great start to 2016! Cathy x
