Gingerbread men arts and crafts

Let’s use gingerbread men to inspire an exploration of print making. And don’t miss the other gingerbread man arts and crafts, below.

Materials needed:

:: large sheet of paper or brown parcel wrap

:: paint in brown, red and white

:: paper plate or shallow dish

:: gingerbread men cookie cutters

 

 

 

Set out your paint on paper plates or in shallow dishes, alongside a large sheet or roll of paper. Invite your children to use the cookie cutters to dip in the paint and make prints on the paper.

They might like to print in neat rows or overlap their design so the gingerbread men are dancing all over the paper. They can experiment by making several prints before re-dipping the cookie cutter in the paint, to see what effect this has on the prints they make.

 

 

 

This is a wonderful art activity to run as a collaborative project, where several children can work together to print a huge gingerbread design. You can use your completed work as gift wrap, to make folders for your children’s work, or use fabric paint to print on cloth to create a tablecloth.
