What’s your number one, best-ever tip to encourage your children to eat healthily? Do you go for the stealth option and sneak in hidden fruit and vegetables or let the kids know exactly what they’re eating and get them involved in the cooking?
I’m joining in with the Weetabix Fuel for Big Days campaign again and this week’s focus is on promoting healthy food for our family. Did you spot me in the display box over on the right-hand side? Click through and tell me how you encourage your kids to eat healthily.

Watching this one with interest!
My best tip, though by no means infallible, is to always eat with your children and lead by example. If they see you avoid the greens then they’re less likely to love them. Same goes for crisp consumption etc, kids watch their parents very closely!
Looking forward to hearing some good ideas to try.

Plant a garden. My now six year old will clear his veggies before anything else since we’ve started growing veggies in our garden (three years now). The act of planting, nurturing, and watching them grow, all the up until the time when you get to ‘harvest’ it all, really gets them involved in the process. So much more fun to eat something that you grew yourself!

We’ve been spending lots of time talking about MyPlate and how half of your plate should be full of fruits and vegetables and talk very openly about food healthy choices, where veggies comes from which is hopefully our garden. Just shared today some resources for parents about Nutrition https://theeducatorsspinonit.blogspot.com/2012/03/little-hands-that-cook-with-book-lets.html

Buy a hand held emulsion blender! I swear – I put an entire veggie garden into my spag. sauces and my soups, and then I blend it all with my hand-held until it’s smooth. All of the daycare kids, and my own (who are now in their teens) have always LOVED my soups and sauces. 🙂
