What is The Junk Model Hall of Fame?
It’s a celebration of children’s junk models. Whether they are big, small, simple or complex, made from cardboard boxes, toilet roll tubes or drinking straws. The Junk Model Hall of Fame recognises children’s creativity and ingenuity and welcomes admissions from around the world, from children of all ages.
Why create a Junk Model Hall of Fame?
Junk model is the quintessential kids’ activity.
:: It’s fun, creative and uses free materials.
:: It promotes imaginative thinking, spacial awareness, engineering and fine motor skills.
:: It encourages risk taking, problem solving and ambition.
Sadly, it is an underrated area of the Arts and junk model creations are often left to decay on dusty bookshelves, under beds or even in the rubbish bin.
But no more! For today sees the inauguration of the Junk Model Hall of Fame, and your children are cordially invited to submit their creations into the collection.
Where is the Junk Model Hall of Fame located?
Crossing time, space and playrooms around the globe the Junk Model Hall of Fame is to be located here on NurtureStore’s Facebook page.
To enter your child’s creation simply take a photo and come and load it onto NurtureStore’s Wall. Include the title of the work of art, the name of the artist (if you don’t mind sharing your child’s name) and their age. Tell us anything else your child would like us to know about the masterpiece – perhaps what it’s made of, what inspired it and any tricky bits they had to work out.
By entering your work in the Junk Model Hall of Fame your child’s art can be seen by the thousands of people in the NurtureStore community. Some exhibits will also showcased here on the blog to celebrate our love of Junk Models and inspire other children to pick up a egg box and create an art work of their own.
When is the Junk Model Hall of Fame open?
