We had fun this week roller-painting with cars. We started off with paint on some plates and we dipped the cars’ wheels in before we took them for a drive on the paper. Then B decided we should put some splodges of paint directly on the paper and let the cars roll through.
The children loved the process and there was lots of chat about traffic jams and short cuts – and the finished result was beautiful too.
With sunny weather forecast for the coming week I’m thinking this would be a great activity for outside messy play. How about a long roll of paper laid down the slide or a ramp, with the cars rolling down?
Have you ever tried painting with cars with your children?

Yes, we did this at one of my son’s birthday parties for when guests arrive. It is good for a wide range of ages.
Hi Phyllis – you’re right, we had mixed aged taking part and everyone enjoyed it (including me!)
I love painting with cars! My 2 year old nephew hates to paint unless he can paint with a car!!
My son would So NOT allow this..lol
Oh , I love that idea of using the slide and out doors. I’m thinking we are going to do that maybe tommorow. You could incorporate size to by doing big and small cars/ trucks and comparing them.
I do this with my 2 year old. Only the cars all ways end up with more paint on them, then the paper does.
Sounds fun!! I have been wanting to do this for a long time, somehow havent gotten to do it…. Should try it:)
Oh yes is great messy play and LOTS of fun.. I haven’t quite got the heart yet to cover our toy cars in paint.. I know we must, as this looks much fun!!!
Thanks for linking up to Kids Get Crafty!
Maggy
Maggy – they girls had lots of fun taking the cars through a carwash afterwards to clean them up – double the fun!
Thanks for adding it to Mini-Masterpieces. Must give this a go sometime!
A pleasure Jude – I’m looking forward to seeing everyone else’s mini masterpieces
We’ve done it once and it was a quick, side craft, as well as one to keep him busy while I made dinner! It was fun, but messy!
