In this art project we’re combining food colouring with shaving foam to create marble effects on paper.
Materials needed:
:: pumpkin template from the Super Fun, Not Scary Halloween Unit
:: pencil
:: scissors
:: watercolour paper or card
:: shaving foam
:: food colouring in yellow and orange
:: kitchen paper or dishcloth
:: black marker pen (optional)
Squirt out a wide area of shaving foam and use droppers to place food colouring or liquid watercolours on the surface.
Use pencils or wooden skewers to swirl the colours through the shaving foam to create a marble effect.
Enjoy your time playing with the colours and experimenting with the patterns you can create
Cut out a pumpkin-shaped piece of watercolour paper / card – you can use the pumpkin template in the Super Fun, Not Scary Halloween Unit.
Carefully press the pumpkin shape onto the surface of the shaving foam. Press down lightly so all of the pumpkin comes into contact with the shaving foam.
Peel the pumpkin back gently and then use a piece of card or tissue to wipe (in one smooth movement across the card) the shaving foam off your card. Your marbled print will be revealed!
You can repeat this process as many times as you like, adding another clean layer of shaving foam if needed. Enjoy the process of mixing colours, and swirling and blending them.
Lay the printed pumpkin down on a flat surface until the paint is dry.
You can use a marker pen to add a friendly face.
These pumpkins look wonderful strung together to make bunting.
