QUICK RESOURCE >> Download our ready-made Apples Unit here
These apple cookies are a quick and easy seasonal treat. There’s no baking involved, so you can have them ready for snack time in a few minutes.
You can mix and match your toppings to suit your taste – or set up a ‘pick and mix’ bar so everyone can design their own flavour.
You will need:
:: firm apples
:: lemon juice (optional)
:: knives: to slice and to spread
:: your choice of spread: nut butter, jam/jelly, Marmite / yeast spread, cream cheese, or apple butter
:: your choice of toppings: chocolate chips, shredded coconut, sprinkles, chopped hazelnuts or pecans, dried cranberries, raisins
How to make apple cookies
If you have an apple corer, start by taking the centre out of your apples.
Then slice them across-ways into cookie shapes.
If you don’t have an apple corer, slice your cookies first and then use a little cookie cutter or a knife to take out the centre of each apple slice.
If you want to you can dip your apple slices in a little lemon juice to stop them browning. Ours are always eaten way before there’s any opportunity for them to change colour!
Next, use a piece of kitchen paper to dab any excess moisture off the top of each apple slice.
Then spread on your choice of nut butter, jam/jelly, Marmite / yeast spread, cream cheese, or even apple butter.
Finally, add your toppings. You could use chocolate chips, shredded coconut, sprinkles, chopped hazelnuts or pecans, dried cranberries, or raisins.
Enjoy!
