
Do you like the girls’ school of fridge magnets? They’re lining up at the end of playtime here but they’ve spent the week in various colour groups and going on trips all over the fridge, freezer and dishwasher. It’s so interesting to see how children take one set of materials and transform it, with so much imagination, chat, co-operation, sorting and classifying going on as they play. And the added bonus of offering play materials that include letters and words is that the children are absorbing literacy learning without any ‘lessons’ being taught.
I’m not sure what that green t is up to over at the side though but I think he made be heading for detention.

I am constantly amazed at the new ways my kids find to play with out word magnets! Love seeing their imaginations take off!
