Do you run? I don’t mean running around after the kids all day – I know we all do that – but rather running for your own health and fitness? A couple of years ago I was running three times a week and I think it’s a perfect way for mums to fit exercise into a busy family life. There’s not much kit you need and it’s probably one of the easiest sports to slot into a busy day. I used to get up a little earlier and run before the kids had woken up in the morning, or take the kids to school wearing my kit and then run all the way home. I say used to, because a bought of really snowy weather followed by all the Christmas busyness and I slipped out of the habit.
I miss the running through – I’m not as fit as I was and I miss the breathing space and mental boost the running used to give me. So – time to start again. Apparently, lots of people start up running as the weather improves and many use a sponsored running event for charity to motivate them and give their running an even better purpose. Running a 5k or 10k like Race for Life is achievable even if you haven’t run since you were at school and a great way to raise money for Cancer Research UK as you get yourself fitter.
