Lots of us like to encourage our children to think of others, especially around the Christmas season. How about a project which invites your kids to get creative and lets them use their masterpiece to raise money for charity? The Kids Draw for East Africa campaign does just that.

Get the kids to Wear It Pink!
Join the fun on 28th October 2011 and Wear It Pink in support of the Breast Cancer Campaign.
It’s easy for everyone to contribute to the cause – simply wear something pink on 28th October and make a donation of £2 to the charity.
Wear It Pink is a fun campaign, raising money to support the thousands of people affected by breast cancer in the UK, and it’s easy to make a fiesta of the occasion by getting the kids involved in a Wear It Pink! day.

Instead of my usual weekend links, I’m sharing just one idea with you today and asking you to make a donation to the DEC East Africa Crisis Appeal.
We spend our weeks giving our children the best start in life, filling their days with play and fun and learning, but life for so many children is so very different.
The severe drought in East Africa is putting the lives of over 10 million people under threat, with some facing the worst drought in 60 years. Thousands of children need our help.
Get your children drawing and support the No Child Born To Die campaign.
One of our friends is off on a life-changing trip this weekend. Chris from Thinly Spread, and a Play Academy regular, is going to Mozambique with Save the Children.
Chris will be seeing first hand the work Save the Children are doing in their No Child Born To Die campaign, focussing on their campaign to stop children dying from diseases that could be prevented through immunisation. Chris will be following the journey of a vaccine as it makes its way out to a rural community. This is ahead of the global vaccines summit which is being hosted by David Cameron in London next month.
